Community Gallery: Wildlife on Film

3

Today, March 3rd, is celebrated as the United Nations World Wildlife Day. So in this gallery, we're taking a look at some of the incredible wildlife photos taken by our community members on film.

Let's get into it!

Many of us grew up watching (and perhaps still watch!) wildlife and nature documentary series such as those aired in the National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet or BBC. Meanwhile, our very first interactions with flora and fauna may very well be in public zoos, oceanariums, museums, or during family hikes or school field trips.

Experiences like these are enough to fuel our life-long curiosity and appreciation for wildlife, some even dedicating their careers or spare time to environmental protection as advocates or activists. Sometimes, this love also merges with our hobbies, such as film photography which can help us to be more aware of our surroundings as we diligently wait for the next best moment to capture.

On the Lomography Online Magazine, we've also interviewed a few film photographers whose images feature nature and wildlife, such as Spanish photographer Leo Amaya's trip to South Africa captured on Lomography film, film photographer Cassie Corridoni's great outdoors taken with the LomoChrome Purple, and photographer Ryland Bouchard's images of the natural world.

This fascination for wildlife sometimes also becomes our reason to travel, to get out of our usual routines and environments, and see what other places have to offer.

Aside from sharpening our photography skills by finding the best way to take a photo of a subject, being out and connecting with the natural world can also fill us with child-like wonder and a stronger urge to take care of and protect the environment.
