Recap: The Festival of Analog 2015 at Lomography NYC

For the third annual Film Photography Day, Lomography NYC hosted an entire festival—a full-fledged celebration of everything analog. With invited guests from all over the city, this was one for the books.

A full day of festivities in NYC begins with brunch, and our Festival of Analog was no exception. The Lomography NYC crew pulled out all the stops for the classic analog brunch: bagels and a cup o’ joe. Early birds sat around and talked about all things analog. Some tarot readings also provided insight into the Analog Future! Guests also had time to peruse the wide selection in our little flea market, where special deals on Lomographic goodies were found.

Thanks for the photo, Kate!

In 1/100th of a second, the morning was over and the scavenger hunt was underway! Analog hunters, armed with a La Sardina camera, went to all corners of the city, ALL 5 BOROUGHS! From Yankee Stadium to Coney Island, photos were snapped in the hopes of winning a shiny, new camera.

Back at home base, those eager to learn about the new Lomo'Instant joined us in a creative workshop. Newcomers got their hands on the camera and all its accessories. As the day progressed, our analog hunters returned for an expert panel with Geoffry Berliner, Executive Director of The Penumbra Foundation, and Coco Alexander, professional photographer and analog extraordinaire. The moderated talk focused on the relevance of analog technology in the increasingly digital world.

And then it was time to party! Our favorite analog mixer, DJ Felipe, spun the funkiest vinyl to get us warmed up. LomoAmigo Wolf Colony capped off the night with an incredible music set. With selections from his debut album, the house was rocking well into the night!

And just like that, the 13-hour Analogue Rager came to an end. Thanks to our special guests Geoffry Berliner, Coco Alexander, and Wolf Colony for helping us make it a great celebration, and especially to all our local NYC Lomography Community for coming out and showing your analog love. We’ll cook up something extra special for next year’s Film Photography Day, for sure!
