Motorized Spinner Lomography

Seitz Roundshot from the 80s is great, but Motorized Spinner is cheaper, and from a technical Point of View the Apple doesn't fall far from the Tree, does it?

Which ISO do you use on the film when you put the camera on a tripod with the motorizer? Do you use a ND-filter?

hi @sierravictor , no filter, i used a film with 400 asa (iso-27) as written in the instructions for use. I've wanted a 360 degree panorama camera since the 80s, when I saw the seitz roundshot for the first time. it cost like a small car and therefore always remained just a dream. i haven't had the spinner 360 & motorizer long and today i finally had some time to test it. i will now send the film to be developed. since the film is not to be cut, it will take some time. i hope I did everything right (..!), it's my first experience with my spinner 360. kind regards, ralph

It could be then possibly that your film will be overexposed because I think the shutterspeed is, I believe, longer with the motorizer than without it. Hope I'm wrong! Good luck!

@sierravictor opsss !!! yes you are right, spinner 360 is fast by hand, slow by motor... . It would be best if I read the instructions for use of the camera and the motorizer again carefully. I was so happy that I overlooked this detail.. thank you very much !!!!!!

I bought a set of ND-filters (ND2, ND4 and ND8), on ebay very cheaply. Haven't tested them on my camera with the motorizer. Maybe a 100 ASA or 200 ASA-film is the right one without filter? I would be very interested in the results if you test it with a 100/200 ASA-film with the camera on the motorizer.

@sierravictor ND4 filter (log ND 0.6) transmits 25% of the light, a 400 ASA film is exposed like a 100 ASA.
@klawe gave me this info in southbox. Now all that's missing is the diameter for the filter (I couldn't find the diameter anywhere on the lens or the lenshood.).
    Kind Regards Ralph

@sierravictor Spinner 360° filter thread seems to be m52. found this info in this link:

@steamtug1959 Yes, the filterthreads is 52mm, sorry, should have mentioned that in my reply earlier. I'm trying to sell my Spinner these days. Maybe I will change my mind if you find out that it works with ND-filters. I've made a package now so I won't open it any time soon though. It has been on my mind to try it with 400 ASA-film without filter, with ND2, ND4 and then ND8, and see what happens in good daylight. I will open the package one day if I don't get a sale and try myself. I'm selling because I have too many cameraes to use to be honest, in total about 95 cameraes...

@sierravictor it will take me a week to get the nd filter. then 1-2 weeks for developing without cutting the panorama film. it works 100%, @klawe has experience with these filters and has also calculated it. a used Seitz roundshot from the 80s doesn't make much more, and still costs over 1000€ today (...!). A 360° panorama camera is unique and something for special occasions. i also have a lot of lenses and cameras and am in the process of giving away some stuff too. but something unique I would keep. it's just a matter of learning how to use Spinner 360° & Motorizer... Kind Regards Ralph

@steamtug1959 So the answer to our problem is: 400 ASA-film together with a ND4-filter on daylight shooting.

@sierravictor ...yes, it appears to be columbus' egg !!! just found one. 5.90 (in Germany incl. shipping) made by the company Kaiser (...!).

"ND4 filter (log ND 0.6) transmits 25% of the light, a 400 ASA film is exposed like a 100 ASA."
I think then a 100 ASA-film without filter should work then on daylight shooting. We have a choise then when we want to put a film in the Spinner. Depending on what film we have/want to use. Do you agree my thinking is correct?

    sierravictor ·

@steamtug1959 If we then have a 400 ASA-film in the camera we have a choice: Handheld without filter, or on tripod with filter.

@sierravictor Lomography @ help sent me a link to our question, but it didn’t answer our question:
    www.lomography.com/about/faq/3398-how-do-i-expose-the-film-…
with the help of @klawe we now have the opportunity to try. I have already bought the filter and will receive it on Friday. You already have the filters if I understood correctly. For such a unique camera it's worth risking a 400Asa I think..
    Kind regards ralph

@steamtug1959 I'm tempted to have a go again, and yes I do have the filters. I will take my camera of the market right now.

hi @sierravictor , did you tested your Nd4-Filter on your motorized Spinner 360 ? My ND4-Filter is Readdy to Party : www.lomography.com/photos/25915168

    sierravictor ·

@steamtug1959 No I haven't tested it. I'm waiting for your results to be honest. It's a money thing for me. I'm thinking about doing a different thing first before that can be an option, and I have to finish a 110-film soon also and have that developed. That "different thing" also involves a bit of a long drive for little photography.

@sierravictor I now have the ND4 filter. This week I will take the panorama photo. my problem is not taking the photo, but the waiting time for developing it. development is cheap for that.

@sierravictor I brought the "overexposed" film (400-ASA on Spinner360° & Motorizer) to develop. I didn't say the problem of overexposure, just that the negative shouldn't be cut (panorama photos). these modern machines are amazing, see for yourself:

@klawe @sierravictor today i will copy this Spinner360° photo from the right side. maybe it's sharper then. also another experiment with my Spinner360° & Motorizer & 400ASA (done at a party) has already been developed!!!!

Man lernt immer dazu!!!!! Ist übrigens auch Schweineteuer... Spinner360 (mit Motorizer) bleibt die Beste Aktenative!!!!!
