Mark Nisbet's Dynamic LomoChrome Turquoise Skate Shots

Mark Nisbet is a dear Lomographer who also has been working in the skateboard industry for years. His dynamic, yet minimalist skateboard shots never fail to impress us, especially when they are taken on Lomography film. He recently got his hands on our LomoChrome Turquoise ISO 100–400 film. Let's see how his style translates through this characterful film.

Hi Mark, welcome back to our Magazine! It’s been a while since we chatted. How has your creative life been treating you?

It's been good. I've been working at a skateboard company with some of my good friends. I’ve met quite a few new people to shoot, like my friend Tom here and I’ve been shooting more film than ever.

What drew you to LomoChrome Turquoise?

I'm a fan of all the LomoChrome films. I missed out on the LomoChrome Turquoise the first time around. I was excited to get a chance to finally try it out.

Where did you take this roll of film?

I shot a lot in LA, Orange County, Long Beach mostly. I think I've shot about 12 or more rolls so far. I’m working on some 120 at the moment.

Which cameras did you use to shoot this film? And do you notice a difference in the results?

I only really see a difference in the film type I’m using. I’ve been shooting all three versions. 110, 120 and 35 mm. For me, each one has a kind of different feeling to it.

Do you have a favorite pairing?

It’s a hard choice, for 35 mm it would probably be the Leica M3, although I just got my M6 back from being repaired and I'm excited to try it in there. For 110 it would be the Pentax 110, and for 120 the Mamiya 7ii—the best medium format camera of all time.

Any words of wisdom for those thinking about trying LomoChrome Turquoise?

The turquoise really shows up the best with the color orange. If you want less grain, shoot it on a bright day. Other than that, I would say just have fun with it.

What is in store for you this year? Any upcoming shoots with more experimental film?

I don’t really have any planned shoots. I probably go shoot a couple times a week. Skateboarders are very much of the moment. You just send out texts and see who’s feeling into it that day. I prefer using experimental films over the standard. I would like things to look more like a painting or art work.
