Long Exposures and Neon Lights With the Lomo’Instant Square Glass

Our Lomo’Instant cameras are packed with cool features, so you’ll never get tired of trying out different effects. We recently took out the Lomo’Instant Square Glass to a fairground to get experimental and test out the bulb mode with some long exposures at night.

When taking long exposures it can be fun to seek out a moving light source. We found fluorescent fairground lights to be ideal. It was the perfect opportunity to make the most of the camera’s long exposure capability and have fun capturing spinning lights. But if you don’t happen to have a fairground on your doorstep, then car headlights, or streetlights captured from a moving car also create incredible light trails.

If you don’t have a tripod to hand one, don’t worry. You can still get sharp images using a wall or any other stable surface. Luckily when it comes to minimizing camera shake the Lomo’Instant Square Glass comes equipped with a remote shutter release so you can operate the shutter without touching your camera at all. It also gives you the freedom to move around and enter your scene.

We also tried combining the use of bulb mode with the multiple exposure function to make even more surreal and off-kilter images.

We hope to inspire you to get creative with your own Lomo’Instant camera. So, as the days get shorter here in the northern hemisphere and daylight seems scarce, don’t despair. Get out in the dark with your Lomo’Instant camera and capture those neon lights in all their glory. Just set the camera to bulb mode and have fun creating psychedelic light lines.
