The Future is Analogue: Lomography Partners with Altitude Tech Inc

Enlarged copies of film photographs and posters filled the walls of One Two Three Block in Mandaluyong last August 2, 2019, while a wide selection of Lomography gear welcomed the guests as they entered the bare-walled venue. The place began to fill with analogue enthusiasts and before the night rain fell, it was jam-packed with people who had one thing in common — their love for film photography. The posters, bold and bright, enumerated the many reasons why the future is analogue. This is how the festivities began at The Future is Analogue — an event presented by Altitude Tech Inc (ATI), Lomography's newest distributor in the Philippines.

One Two Three Block became a meeting place for film photographers, old and new, to celebrate the new partnership between ATI and Lomography. The film photography scene in the Philippines always had a strong following and the event was an assurance of how Filipinos continue to embrace the analogue way of life. The presence of the Lomography Community just continues to grow and the analogue revolution kicked it a gear higher with the introduction of a new distributor in the country.

As expected, film photography fans and camera enthusiasts flocked to the event with their different gear in tow. Exchanging tips, stories, and laughs, the venue was filled with people who support the analogue movement and welcomed the new partnership between the two companies. Lomography Philippines' own Shop Manager Jason Carlos Bulatao ran down the company's history and the span of its influence among film photographers in the local scene. LomoAmigo Correspondents Ennuh Tiu and JC Gellidon exchanged turns on the podium to talk about their experiences as Lomography's resident photographers. Members of the media were also present to cover the event. The media personnel in attendance were given kits filled with informative pamphlets, magazines, and their very own Simple Use Film Cameras for testing.

Like other events in the past, the night wouldn't be complete without electrifying performances from local bands. The stage was set and the first band to perform was the Rusty Machines who made the audience swing and sway with their youthful songs. Next up was the energetic duo, the Hernandez Brothers who brought an intense vibe to the event thanks to their thunderous percussion instruments. To mellow things down a bit, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines serenaded the crowd with his soothing but playful tunes. Last but definitely not the least, The Diegos, the DJ duo with their rock'n'roll mixes that tied up the whole event.

The highlight of the night, however, was the unveiling of Lomography's newest Art Lens — the Petzval 55 MK II Bokeh Control Art Lens. Guests lined up to take a look at Lomography's new addition to its growing Art Lens family and had their photos taken amidst the lights and the music. LomoAmigo JC Gellidon was one of the first photographers to take the new Petzval 55 MK II for a spin and captured some brilliant portraits with it. Playful bokeh, distinct swirls, vibrant colors, and great image quality filled the frames of his photographs.
