Pieces of Berlin Make Their Way to NYC

Photographer Florian Reischauer is no stranger to the Lomography community. In 2013, our LomoAmigo took a Lubitel 166+ out for a spin and told us about his famous blog, “Pieces of Berlin”. A few years earlier, he took time to take part in the
5 Questions on Analogue Photographyseries. Now, we’re here to give you the latest scoop on Florian Reischauer and his next appearance in NYC to present his new book which was based off of his blog, “Pieces of Berlin 2009-2013”.

“For most young people around the world, the German capital today has become a focal point of the contemporary hip and cool. Yet beyond the neo-bohemian gloss of the virtually infinite nightlife, and the creative class’ sleekness in myriads of galleries and art spaces, lies the other, the ‘normal’ Berlin. And it is this still rather poor, staggeringly ordinary city that has become the obsession of photographer Florian Reischauer, a long-standing Berlin resident.” – Henning Lahmann

This point of view, which Reischauer has captured with vintage analog cameras and reflected in his blog since 2010, is getting a new life in the pages of his brand new book. And that’s the focal point of the event on October 3 in the Deutsches Haus at NYU in New York City.

The Deutsches Haus at NYU is presenting a discussion and photo slideshow with the Berlin based photographer. The event is part of Deutsches Haus’ fall focus on the city of Berlin, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
