REAL NAME: Natalie Rachel
STATE: Hawaii
Could you begin by telling us a little about yourself – Maybe an interesting fact people might not know about you?
My name is Natalie, (Rachel is my middle name, thus: natalieerachel) I’m 16 and a student living in Hawaii. Some interesting facts about me? I play alto sax in my high school band as the section leader, and I’ve stopped growing; I’m 5’0.5” hahaha.
How long have you been into Lomography and how did you discover it?
I became active on Lomography in October of 2010 when I received my first Lomography camera as a gift from a friend; the Holga 120 CFN!
What are your plans for the winter holidays?
Seeing as I am still a high school student and my winter break is fairly short, I probably won’t be going out of state. Christmas will most likely be spent with my family and my boyfriend’s family. But my 17th birthday is on December 27 and I’ll be celebrating it with all of my friends at the beach!
Any New Year’s resolutions for 2012
Add to my collection of cameras, of course! It usually takes a while for me to buy them, though because I’m tight on money with school and my part time job. So, I usually always rely on piggies to buy things from the Lomography online store. As for myself, I would like to be more patient.
If you could recommend one movie and one song to everyone, what would they be?
I’m not a huge movie nut, but a movie that I love is Inception; it’s incredible and it almost requires you to think! A song that I’ve been listening to, of late, is Hey Mama by Mat Kearney. It’s such a happy song and Mat’s got an amazing voice. (Watch the video)
What’s your favorite analogue camera to shoot with?
That’s a hard one, I love all of my cameras to death because they all have unique things about them. But if I absolutely had to choose, it would have to be my “Spinner 360”: http://shop.lomography.com/spinner-360. The sprockets and incredible view of everything is just amazing! I also enjoy the perplexed looks that I get from my friends and strangers when they see me carrying it around. I got stopped at the airport once because they thought it was a grenade; they kept scanning and re-scanning it, hahaha.
What’s the next camera you’d like to get your hands on?
Definitely the Lubitel 166+, I’ve had my eyes on that baby for a while. I figured that I should get a hardy medium format camera since I don’t have any. I also recently found out that you can shoot 35mm film in it too! I just have to save up enough piggies for it…
What’s your favorite memory from this year?
Man, it’s certainly been a long year with lots of laughter, and some tears. But I think one of the best memories was my trip to China Walls beach for the first time with my best friend Summer (@summsumm). Exploring and taking photos was a blast and that place is just amazing!

And now for the toughest question – What’s been your favorite photo from the past year?
That’s definitely a really difficult question. But I think out of all of them, it would be this black and white photo of my boyfriend and our hands. It depicts exactly how I feel about him, and I still feel exactly the same way when I see him now. It’s as simple as that!
